Thank you God for miracles! Yesterday we had 31 kids at bybc. The kids ranged from 2-8, and were so well behaved! At first we didn't think that they would be back today but they rearranged their whole schedule for the day so they can come! We might end up with 33-35 today! Yesterday we also passed out water and little church cards for grassroots church at local weekly racing club. Woke up today by a mooing cow that we found out was a dog! Can't wait to see what today brings!

Waking up today thanking God for so much.  Our team has bonded together so well and works together at whatever we are asked to do.  We have been praying so much for the victims of the wildfire here and see the impact it has on the families.  Over 300 families have lost everything and many more have been evacuated and not sure when they will be able to return home.  The Colorado Baptist Association director is one of these families.  He met the persons who saved his home but has been without power and doesn't know when they will be able to return and begin cleanup.  We went to the edge of forest yesterday afternoon and talked with red cross volunteers.  Driving through part of the forest was moving- almost every home had a sign thanking God and first responders for their hard work.  We don't realize these first responders. Do not go home until the job is done.  We drove be the school where they are staying and it is like a tent city.  Today we are off to have Backyard Bible Club again.  Pray for us because yesterday we had 3 kids and today we know we will have 25. Praise God for this great opportunity and thank you church family and friends for your support.

Colorado

Hey every one just want to let you know we made it to Colorado safe and sound. We did have some troubles on the way here from lost underwear, lost trying to find our way to Lincoln's tomb, and over a flowing toilet. The trip up was quit an adventure. We really don't want to go back through Kansas(hahaha). We went to breath church yesterday and spent the whole time praying for Colorado and the people and helpers, etc. Then we went to pass out fliers for bybc and almost got rained on. Then we went to grassroot church and helped with the nursery and pre-k. Please pray that our backyard bible club goes well today and the kids show up! Thank you for all your support to get us here! (The sites are AMAZING! (You wish you were here))

Headed Home

We have touched down, gotten our bags, and gotten supper. We are headed towards home and plan to be there at 7:00ish. Thanks so for much for the prayers, the Lord kept us safe and heathly! We give all the praise and glory to Him! We are anxious to see you all! Everyone who has prayed has particapated in the mission trip! God bless!

Haiti Mission Team 2013

Haiti Jan 15 morning

This morning we completed our devotion, discussing the impact the trip has had on us. Dr. Hall & his wife joined us (a medical doctor from Washington State.) He often comes and helps Dr. Rodney. We are completing packing to leave for the airport at 9:30. The Bundy's came by on their way to school. Allowing us to say goodbye until we can see them in June when they come to the states.

We have had a fantastic week. We have gotten so much done for the missionaries here and we give all the praise and glory to God.

Haiti Jan 14

This morning, Mark Tabor gave the devotion from John 17:1-8. The ladies went back to Cowman School. Sierra went back to 1st and 2nd grade and Debbie and Karen taught Kindergarten. Karen taught the story and singing and Debbie focused on the lessons and art.  Sierra helped the student with Math and Language, read a book abut ML King Jr, then made a poster for the classroom. Cowman School is designed to give and American education because if you have an American education in Haiti you are more likely to find a good job. About 8 students there are missionary kids, Dr. Rodney's (the doctor at the OMS clinic) children go there, and several pastors have children that go there and the other children are Haitian children whose parents are most likely professional.

The men loaded the balance of the metal for the Plain De Nord church. Once they arrived at the church the balance of the metal was installed to the roof by 11:30AM. Rick (OMS's maintenance supervisor) thought it would take much longer. He was very appreciative of the skill level that the team had. Returning to the compound they stopped at the lumber yard to get the tin for Brett's shed. After lunch (sub sandwiches) they finished the roof on Brett's shed. Now at 4:14 we are blogging! A very successful day!

Our team thanks all of you who have been praying, your prayers have covered us for safety, productivity, and completion of the tasks. Prayers are important in all of our lives and in Haiti it is extra important because of the spiritual warfare here. Please keep praying for our team as we return and for the Lord's work here in Cap Haitian.

Haiti Jan 13 part 2

The evening meal at the Bundy's was very pleasant. The atmosphere was great with good fellowship with our church family serving as missionaries. Brett made homemade ice cream & coconut pineapple smoothie. The main course was fried pumpkin blossoms, baked pasta, popcorn, tomatoes, avocados, carrots, milaton (like turnips.) The kids enjoyed playing a card game with Sierra & Jonas (young dairy farmer from Indiana.) Then we ended the evening with Brett requesting our prayers concerning a problem with property in Port- Au-Prince and he thanked the team and the church for their years of support and prayers.

Haiti, Jan 13

This morning for breakfast we had boiled eggs, cinnamon rolls, bananas, and juice. Karen led the devotion from I Cor. chapter 12. The church we attended was Maranatha, the church the men attended on 2009. That Sunday the church dedicated the school building. We were able to observe physical changing bringing the interior to a complete state. Four years ago we sat on the wood pews like park benches, looking to the ceiling all the way to the trusses; watching the birds fly in and out during service. Today the ceiling tiles are in place, electricity provided ceiling fans and the stage greatly improved. The church service was two hours long, and we didn't squirm too much. We have been invited to attend an English speaking church which is held at the radio station. The evening meal will be at the Bundy's.

Haiti Jan 12 saturday

No school today for ladies to assist. Enough rain that we made no attempt to finish the roof at church in Plain De Nord, safety being the issue. Brett conducted a bible study for the Haitian male OMS employees. They are studying in John chapter 4. Janiel, a graduate of Emmaus Biblical Seminary participated today.
Our group's devotional this morning included sharing our testimonies. This was a time of increased fellowship for our team. The balance of the day, we spend resting to make preparation for worship at one of the OMS planted churches. Brett & Angie will be our leaders, taking us to the church and then to lunch.
Tonight our meal was pumpkin soup, bread, raw carrots and raw milton (similar to a turnip.) Pickles (spicy dish) was available for those who choose to eat it.  It is raining right now, may it not be raining as we go to church tomorrow and return our taxi is a one ton truck with open stock racks on it (it is not much of a rain shield.) Continue to pray for the trip that God will use it honoring Him.
We are all still healthy, safe, and doing fine.

Haiti friday jan.11

Today we participated in a one hour prayer meeting on the compound where we were included in a four hour prayer meeting two years ago. Men  then traveled to Plain De Nord  installing 35 pieces of roofing metal,30 completed one side and began from front of building for the south slope, and thoroughly secured with screws. Generator offered some challenges yet Lord saw us thru today's activities.
The ladies and those who had not seen the Emmaus seminary campus traveled to Saccanville experiencing tour and insight to how the seminary operates. Men returned completing our work group allowing us to finish roof metal delivered. Ladies then returned to Cowmen school. Karen and Debbie took responsibility for kindergarten allowing Angie to teach 6th grade. Sierra then went back to Mrs. Z's class and graded papers, read stories, and did a history project with the 2nd graders.
Erica and Aleta joined us for supper and shared their testimonies with us. Erica teaches at Cowman  sschool and Aleta is a nurse at the Clinic.

thursday jan.10 haiti

Today the men traveled to Plain de Nord church. They installed 9 trusses at the stringers and purlins preparing for the tin to be installed tomorrow (Friday.)  The Lord kept us safe, effective and timely, at 4:00 we could go back to the compound to prepare for supper.  There was a slight breeze and the Lord kept us safe. Pray that the Lord keeps the wind calm tomorrow in order to install the new tin. Also pray that this effort glorifies God and the church grows. Yesterday Larry Becker finished a plumbing project under Brett's direction. Everyone is healthy, safe, and things are going well. May it continue. Please pray specifically for this church building and the congregation that will grow out of it.  We have learned that voodoo is prominent in this community with at least one annual voodoo festival. We need the Lord's Holy Spirit to direct every activity including the spiritual aspect of the growth of this church body.

Today the ladies went back to Cowman school with Angie to help the teachers.  Debbie did some filing and paper work that Angie really needed done. Karen watched 3 pre-schoolers who did not actually have class but had to come to school.  Sierra went back to Mrs. Z's class and helped grade, teach, and read some stories.  After school the 3 ladies went to Mrs. Z's adult English class so the students could practice their English.

Sam and Cammie Aberle joined us for supper along with their 2 children. They shared how they got onto the mission field.

From Haiti

We made it to Haiti, everyone is well and really enjoying the beautiful weather! 

Mark Tabor's tire skills were used early in the day. The men loaded the trusses to be installed on the church tomorrow. The John Deer zero turn mower had it's gauge wheel replaced and a bracket welded for security. Because of unauthorized electrical consumption the portable welder was used to add metal bracketing and the A-frame swing set of two inch pipe was reenforced. Then Brett and Angie's shed was evaluated for a roof they are reconstructing it. 

Today the ladies had a tour of the medical center and dental center with Dr. Rodney.  We learned that they are in need of several items and many pray concerns, for example they are hoping to someday have a place to deliver babies, and also enough staff to have a 24 hour clinic.  Please keep Dr. Rodney, his staff, and the center in your prayers.

After we took the tour of the center we went to Cowman school where Angie's is the principal. I helped Mrs. Z in the first and second grade class and Debbie and Karen went to the Pre-school and kindergarten room.  

After school the ladies came back and had a Bible study, art time, and created a marching band with the missionary kids while the missionaries had their weekly bible study. 

Matt and Stacey Ayars along with their children joined us for dinner and give Matt gave his testimony. 

Please keep us in your prayers as the men will be roofing a church starting tomorrow.  God is so so good!!

Haiti 2013 Monday 1-7

Arrived in Fort Pierce Florida traveling safely on Delta Airlines and airport shuttle. We have eaten and preparing to rest for the night. A wake up call is 4:30 am. Arrive at airport at 5:30 am. to board mission flight international into Haiti by 1:00 pm. We will blog again tomorrow Lord willing. Pray that we will have electricty and internet access both. We are expereincing the results of your praying because we have had a successful day. Please continue to support us daily in your prayers. Emil via Rick Meador
